Over the last few years we have discussed options and settled on policies for life, long term care and medical insurance. We called Andrew Herman regarding a long term care policy for my husband, George, in 2005. He came to our home and carefully listened to our long care needs. He asked questions about George's health and because George has PAD there was only one company that would accept him. Andrew explained the cost of the policy and told us that although the benefits were not the best, it was the only insurance company that would accept George. Andrew did not use high pressure tactics to try to get us to buy immediately and we really appreciated that. We did go ahead and purchase the insurance. Over the years, Andrew has been there to explain how Medicare works and gave us a comparison of gap and replacement coverages available. It took us two years to decide on which plans we wanted, but Andrew came over several times and spoke to us over the telephone to discuss our questions and options. Again, he did not high pressure us into any particular plan. I had wanted to get a gap coverage policy with Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Andrew advised that he did not sell that particular product but knew someone who did and if we wanted that coverage he would be happy to set us up with another insurance broker. We ultimately decided to go with an AARP supplemental policy for my husband and I have Evercare which is an AARP replacement policy for Medicare. We are both very happy with the plans that we have purchased. Before selling insurance, Andrew was an actuary and he has been able to explain my long term care policy that I purchased through work. I found that extremely helpful and he was willing to assist me even though he did not sell us the policy.
